Glowing Bones in the Old Stone House

As our Bones Theory queen Sarah has given us permission to re-dissect her amazing scene studies and BT posts in general, let’s start this off with this fabulous black shirt…

glowing

I’ve never wanted to be a shirt so badly…

The B&B bickering that was actually cute, and flirty, and revealed the attraction to each other that they wouldn’t actually acknowledge…

But of course, everyone else always assumes they are together.

Now this post is more of a whole episode study, so it is a bit long, but in includes LOTS of fun pictures. Like this bromance one…

And of course, don’t forget THE END SCENE.

Earlier in the ep, Brennan says she and Sully had gone to the restaurant before (which I had forgotten about that Sully reference!)….but it’s Booth who gets the personally made mac ‘n’ cheese, made with “loving” as their murder victim called it. And Booth totally knows it. 🙂

At this point in the scene, I think I’ve died. That. Face.

They are so cute there that I can’t even stand it. We keep talking about their old connection. This is what we are missing!!! Anyway, click here for the rest of the episode study and B&B looking at each other: https://bonestheory.wordpress.com/2012/03/13/vintage-bones/

  1. “I’ve never wanted to be a shirt so badly…”

    Isn’t that the truth!

“They are so cute there that I can’t even stand it. We keep talking about their old connection. This is what we are missing!!”

And this is season 2 for gods sake!!! B&B had more chemistry/connection than now! I love looking back on this but it does make me sad too! It just magnifies what we are missing now that B&B are a married couple. There is no reason we can’t have sweet endings like this! No kissing even involved, just a sweet romantic connection would be appreciated!!

  2. For me, what was so special about these moments was that under the guise of work partners, they were able to dance very close to romantic partners. They tested each other….they played with each other…and tempted each other…it was a fun dance to watch. They can still dance. But these new guys just don’t get it. It’s about them and their connection. I like the other characters, they are all fine, but the focus needs to always come back to these two and the give and take of their most intimate feelings.

  3. MP is sorely mistaken thinking fans loved Bones for the murders and gore. It was the connection between B&B!!! It was always about “them and their connection”. THAT is what hooked me. Of course a good case always helped… Judas on a Pole, Aliens, Boy with the Answer comes to mind.

    • Well I’ve been commenting with someone on FB via the Bones official page and she said that we must be watching two different shows because she thinks B&B’s connection is stronger than ever! And I’m thinking, yeah we must be watching two different shows! Because I do not see how you can compare things like the mac n cheese moment with them arguing over whether Booth can ride bikes without Brennan’s permission. It’s SO not the same.

A smart writer/showrunner would pull things like the mac n cheese moment, and have Brennan make it again FOR HER FAMILY, and they are all together and the kids are eating it happily, and B&B share a smile together at the table. Because she made it with LOVE for her FAMILY.

It’s not that hard. I could write this in my sleep. Gimme another season with HH, ED, and DB. Y’all let’s start submitting scripts to HH now for when this gets revamped on Netflix or Hulu 🙂

  4. Bickering for Bickering’s sake IS not romantic in my book. That’s what MP has inserted and for me it doesn’t cut it. But the Bones Bots say everything is wonderful perfect etc….If it was so great, wouldn’t more people be watching and wouldn’t season 13 be in the works? They don’t have 15 million people watching each week! 🙂

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Why is that so hard for TPTB to think of something so sweet… a nice callback.

    • “Why is that so hard for TPTB to think of something so sweet… a nice callback.”

      That’s the million dollar question.

Remember “baby girls need grills?” That was a 30 second scene that will go down in Bones lore.

It’s just not that hard guys.

  6. OMG yes – I would love to see Booth with that silly grin raving about her Mac and Cheese! How about her adjusting his back one more time? We aren’t talking bedroom scenes……

“Remember “baby girls need grills?” That was a 30 second scene that will go down in Bones lore.”
    That was so cute.
I wish they would have asked fans if they needed help! 🙂

    • Even thought it’s too late, I tweeted them my mac n cheese idea for the (in my mind) future Bones reboot on Netflix just in case that would ever happen and if they would ever take fan suggestions 🙂 Gotta get my ideas in early lol.

Another idea I just had was to have the Cocky belt buckle mounted on the wall in Hank’s room. If Brennan gets a mini-me science robot child, then Booth should get a cocky/confident mini-me hockey player who stands up for fellow kids who are picked on at school 🙂

  7. So, the other night on local channel Bones repeat on Dearly Departed. The ending scene! I remember watching it for the first time when getting up to speed on Bones. The connection B&B had! The way the old episodes centered around B&B!! I missed that in the last 2 seasons especially. I know DB & ED had cut their working hours, but those early episode were pure B&B gold!

BTW, I know there was a scene study on that. Lol, jumping ahead on scene studies!

“Oh, the eyebrows AND the puppy dog eyes. Double barreled assault!
    “I promise,” Brennan answers.

When I watched it for the first time, I was so excited that Booth put his arm around Brennan. LOVE!! I knew Booth loved her- he wanted her to be the one with him after he died.

Ahh, love old B&B. And doesn’t Brennan look lovely?!!

    • I love looking back at the comments on BT. Oh, we were so young and innocent back then…. *lol*

This is still not one of my favorite episodes, for the same reason I mentioned there. It just tried too hard to be funny. But the B&B moments were so good. So, so, so good. I may have to rewatch and see if time has toned down the slapstick.

  8. Not my favorite ep. either. It was pretty silly…but like a lot of eps. back then, the B&B moments were lovely and the endings made up for the episode! (Death in the Saddle)

Lol, I did like it when Booth broke out in song & dance at the wake.

  9. I was more into who the victim was, because I used to watch his show Inside the Actors’ Studio all the time. I was surprised they got him to appear 🙂
