Ah, the memories of Booth and Brennan right when they were becoming “official”…
Who could forget how bickering B&B could give us a glimpse of the future?! This time, of course, they are bickering about what to give MSVH. Of course, Booth doesn’t quite understand what he’s getting into…
David Boreanaz uses his magic skill of making strange dialogue sound normal with “Bang! Mama Bones!” while Emily Deschanel gives us plenty of “I don’t know what that means” looks while looking very pretty herself.
Our innocent Bonehead universe could not even comprehend what was in our future! I was just getting into hardcore Bones blogging and literally FREAKED OUT when we found out they were in fact writing in Emily’s pregnancy!! I think we had just invented the Bones Viewing Kit then and I used every bit.
At the end of this scene study, Sarah shares a bit of connection with this scene and the end of Change in the Game, how B&B were so connected in the waiting room while Angela was giving birth.
But of course, Sarah says it best:
‘She looks at Booth to see what his reaction is, and her looking at him was very…natural. Back when the series started, she would look at him to study him and gauge his reaction. If she thought something was funny, she would look at him to see if he laughed, etc, etc. You know the way you can be so in tune with a person that you just know when they even walk into the room? Even if you tell yourself “Do NOT look over there”, you still just can’t quite not look? It’s that underlying connection between two people, and B&B have that, and in that moment, Brennan (I think) wasn’t even thinking “I wonder how Booth feels about this”; it was more that because he was in the room, she naturally just turned toward him for his reaction.
And he was already looking at her …
You know…in that way he would always just be looking at her? To gauge her reaction and wonder what she was thinking, and the ‘even though we’re in a room of a lot of people, even ones we like a lot, this is still a moment between you and me’ kind of way? “THAT is what made me think, “Okay…okay. Everything is going to be just fine.”
Thoughts on “Bang! Mama Bones!” or anything to do with Booth and Brennan actually getting together and pregnant on the show? Did they do it well?

The looks at each other when Hodgins brings out Michael Vincent…Lol, I think I remember someone posting at the time B&B were thinking “I want one of those”.

I just miss those times, like Sarah said, where they were just looking at each other and you didn’t need any words. *sniff* I miss you Early Bones!
Emily was just so achingly beautiful in S6. It was a combination of the way she looked with those bangs framing her face (I think I was in the minority of folks who liked those bangs on her) and how vulnerable and sad she looked. ED did a fantastic job portraying Brennan’s longing for Booth during that season…it mirrored Booth’s longing for her in S5.
Question — when do you think Brennan knew she was pregnant? Did she already know it when they were at the bowling alley in the opening scene? How about when they met Max at the diner? What’s your theory on how/when she found out?
Also, “Bang! Mama Bones!” is one of my favorite lines in the series. How much do you want to bet that Booth used that line in…ummm, private…a lot more?

When her and Booth looked at each other in the waiting room, Brennan knew she was going to be telling Booth later that night that she was pregnant with his child. 😀
I also think that Brennan knew she was pregnant in that opening scene at the bowling alley. She is smart enough to know that unprotected sex can lead to a pregnancy! Some think that it was failed birth control, but my feeling is that she was not using any because she was not in a relationship at the time. LOL, she may have even told Booth that night but at that point they were probably both in the position to deal with a pregnancy or even felt that if it did happen that would be a good thing. 👍🏼 I am sure of that Brennan found out fairly quickly that she was pregnant and waited for the right moment to tell Booth.

This is what I always thought happened. She wasn’t on birth control because she wasn’t seeing any men, and then when she rather unexpectedly ended up in Booth’s bed that night they were thinking about other things. I also agree that on some level they were already both ok with a pregnancy should it happen, and of course it did, because we know that apparently, Booth is a god. That’s right. Motile sperm count: 28.8 million. He could start his own country…lol.

These two had no reason to give a second thought to ‘protection’ because them making love would never be a wrong thing and making a baby would just be icing on the cake.
